The nine-county Bay Area saw the number of homes for sale improve on both a monthly and annual basis, as the month's supply of inventory rose to 3.2. All counties posted year-over-year gains, with the monthly supply of inventory ranging from 2.7 in Alameda County to 5.6 in Napa County.

U.S. Home Sales Hit Strongest Pace Since Previous Peak

America's housing market had its best year for sales in more than a decade in 2017, despite the tightest supply conditions on record. According to a new report from the National Association of Realtors, there were 5.51 million existing single-family home, townhouse, condominium and co-op sales in 2017, an annual gain of 1.1 percent. That's the highest level of activity since 2006, when there were 6.48 million U.S. home sales. http://bit.ly/2DO7Ci1

Final Version of Tax Reform Is Still Detrimental for California Housing Markets

Republicans in Congress reconciled their different versions of the tax reform and offered their final version of the so-called Tax Cuts and Jobs Act today. Congress will vote on the final version next week which is only slightly more favorable than the initial House of Representatives bill but still highly detrimental for most of California's coastal housing markets.
